- Awareness of half light (twilight) and the transition effects at dusk and dawn.
Speed and stopping distances:
- Pulling up within sight range safely
- Adjust your speed to suit various road conditions
- Adjust your speed to suit various weather conditions
- Adjust your speed to suit wet conditions especially after a prolonged period of dry
weather.
- Adjust your speed to suit visibility
- Adjust your speed to suit when in unfamiliar territory.
Visibility seeing and reacting safely:

- Clean all round lights and reflectors where applicable.
- Awareness and correct reaction to pedestrians with or without reflective clothing.
- Cyclist with or without lights and/or with or without reflective clothing
- Intelligent prediction (anticipation): e.g. Pubs & clubs, poorly lit areas.
- The difference from lighted streets to those that are unlighted and the resultant
transition effect.
- Defensive driving when being dazzled (be prepared to slow or stop).
- Wet roads and reacting to both dazzle and glare especially on quicker roads and around
corners.
